Filip Meheus (email@example.com)
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is a multi-disciplinary research institute in Lyon, France. It is an independently funded institution, and also a specialized cancer agency of the World Health Organisation. The particular focus of IARC is international collaborative research projects cutting across a wide range of disciplines including laboratory, clinical, epidemiological and public health.
A postdoctoral opportunity is immediately available within the Prevention and Implementation (PRI) group to work on economic studies of cancer. The overall objective of the PRI group is to provide scientific evidence on the validity, effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness of prevention, screening, and early diagnosis approaches; elucidate the natural history of cancer; catalyse the wider implementation of evidence-based primary and secondary prevention strategies for common cancers by operational and implementation research; and contribute to cancer control in general.
The candidate will contribute to a portfolio of research projects in the PRI group, in collaboration with colleagues at IARC and its network with a geographical focus on low –and middle-income countries. These include in particular research into the cost-effectiveness of preventive strategies for cervical and gastric cancer.
Successful candidates must have a strong background in economic evaluation and modelling, as well as an excellent command of English. Training in a cancer-related field is desirable, though not essential. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. with appropriate training or demonstrated experience in economic evaluation methods and modelling.
The postdoctoral opportunity is initially for one year with possibility of renewal. The IARC stipend is currently €2750 per month. The cost of travel for the postdoc, and in certain circumstances for dependants, will be met, a dependant’s allowance paid, and health insurance covered.
The deadline for applications is November 15, 2017.
Interested candidates are invited to contact Dr Filip Meheus (firstname.lastname@example.org) for informal enquiries. Applicants should send a CV, including list of publications and a description of previous research experience, as well as the names and addresses of two academic referees, preferably by email to: email@example.com (please mention in the title of your email “Postdoctoral opportunity – Cancer economics”)
